Fun fact

Unlike human health insurance, pet parents can typically go to the veterinarian of their choice without having to worry about finding an “in-network” professional.

What is Pet Insurance?
FAQ toggle circle

Insurance jargon can be confusing. At Figo, we’re all about making the process simple and seamless.

Pet insurance allows pet parents access to the best medical care for their dog or cat, regardless of budget. It’s a health care policy that reimburses you for certain medical costs and veterinary bills related to accidents, emergencies, and illnesses. The specific services and treatments covered vary depending on your plan of choice.

What Does Pet Insurance Cover?
FAQ toggle circle

In general, pet insurance covers a wide range of accidents, illnesses, and preventative care. The type of coverage a customer needs will vary from pet to pet. At Figo, we offer customizable coverage without the confusion. Pick from one of three robust plans, then add Powerups like Wellness and Veterinary Exam Fee Coverage.

Deductibles
The amount you spend on your pet’s medical care before insurance kicks in. This is chosen when you pick your policy. Selecting a higher deductible can bring the total cost of your policy down, while selecting a lower deductible means you’ll pay less before insurance begins covering eligible expenses.

Waiting Periods
The time period before coverage begins. At Figo, we have a one-day waiting period for accidents related to injury – one of the lowest in the industry. We also introduced an Orthopedic Conditions waiver (accessible from your Pet Cloud) that eliminates the 6-month orthopedic condition waiting period within the first 30 days of the policy. That means less waiting for you, and $$ back quicker than ever!

Annual or per-incident maximum
The maximum amount that Figo will reimburse you per year.

Copayments
The amount of the cost of care you are responsible for incurring per accident, illness or injury per Veterinary Provider treating, diagnosing or performing tests for such accident, illness or injury.

Why Aren't Pre-Existing Conditions Covered by Pet Insurance?
FAQ toggle circle

Most pet insurance companies will not cover pre-existing conditions or those conditions that show signs or symptoms prior to the policy effective date or during any applicable waiting periods. However, pre-existing conditions do not exclude pets from pet insurance, as new illnesses, and injuries, can still be covered.

Note: Figo may cover pre-existing conditions considered curable if they show no signs or symptoms within 12 months of treatment.
